  • Happy Memorial Day!!!

    I remember.

I appreciate all those who have served and are serving to ensure our freedoms.  Thank You.

Kinda funny that when I was in school, I didn’t care for history lessons and seemed to feel it was too difficult to memorize all the dates for the tests we took and so forth.  Now, I wish I had a better grasp of the whole process that our country has gone through, especially what has been given by so many to make this great nation what it is today.  I hope to see a number of the people who have served our country in the armed forces to say a heart-felt ‘Thank you very much’.  I think it could even be a ‘hug a veteran’ day, if appropriate.

Enjoy the time with family and friends, the nice warm weather and the fact that we are free.

  • I am pretty sure you are not alone in your history learning experience… they are still boring students with those methods in the public schools!  If all you learned was dates, you were not taught history by someone who loved it.

Real history is people’s stories, not just dates ~ I learned that since we have been homeschooling.  If you are engaged by the telling, you won’t have to be prodded to remember the dates… besides, the general time frames are all that really matters.  History fascinates me!  We watch Discovery and History channel (there’s LOTS of specials this weekend about WW2 etc.!) all the time for that reason.  It’s never to late to learn… and when it is for fun instead of a test (which I never give in homeschool) it just rocks!  NOW, that you have had your homeschool history lesson, have a GREAT Memorial Day weekend! (((MWAH!)))

  • You know , Deb , I have good reasons to remember .

  • Happy weekend to you, Deb!!
