I have a diverse love of music. I don’t mean I like ALL music and there area a couple of genres (bluegrass would be an example) I really have a difficult time being around for any amount of time. Still, I am not your average music lover. I really like to ‘mix it up’ in terms of what I listen to and basically I can go from classical to pop to rock to, yes, even Ska Bands and I truly enjoy listening and watching them use their gifts and talents.
That stated, I may surprise or even shock a few with this link, but I’ve been to see these guys and loved it! The best part is, I know and have known most of them since they were kids, I mean little kids. You see, these kids, with the exception of Julie, I remember being in our youth group (at least for visits if they went to church elsewhere) for years at the church we all attended and I was a youth leader who went on trips with and had overnights with, most of these guys. I would like to think I encouraged them to pursue their dreams and develope their gifts and talents and I hope they keep going. I have another link that will allow you to hear what they sound like here. Please be prepared. It’s definently not classical and it’s not even rock. They are a Ska Band and really put their all into each song. They write their own songs and play out as often as they can, and lately, that’s been a lot! I think their hearts are true to the message that is so evident in the songs they put out and you should see the crew they ‘reach’ when they play. Folks I might never be able to even approach with my methods come to hear them and hear a really good message.
At the second link, you can go under the box on the right and choose one of three songs there at this time, I have the lyrics to the latest, Killers Wearing Crosses, and you can hear them as they would do it for a group of their listeners at a coffee house or church youth function or bar (yes they even played a bar, but didn’t drink themselves) or outdoor concert where they perform.
Lyrics to Killers Wearing Crosses:
From behind your picket lines
You despise them with your signs
God hates fags or so you say
As you push them the other way
(killers wearing crosses)
Your fingers must be tired from pointing
Your heart as hard as stone
To cast your hate in the name of Christ
Is in itself blasphemy alone
Christ himself is love, and we are to love one another
So what justifies your contradictions?
Pointing fingers from your pedastal
When we are to love without restriction
(killers wearing crosses)
Kill (in the name of Christ)
Hate (in the name ofChrist)
Destroy (in the name of Christ)
War (in the name of Christ)
Your fingers must be tired from pointing
Your heart as hard as stone
To cast your hate in the name of Christ
Is in itself blasphemy alone
Now I know this won’t be everyone’s cup’o'tea, but for some, it’s their way of expressing and me??? Well, I’ll be going again the last Saturday to see them if at all possible. I rike it!
and I’m really proud of Cody, Tyler, Jordan and Dustin(s) and Julie. I’ve watched them grow up and I am so thankful they still have high ideals and hold themselves to high standards in this just good enough world.
On thier site, they have a link for email, you could send an encouraging word if you’d like to do so. Or, there is info to book them for your area, they travel now!

I can appreciate your taste in music…I’m all over the place in my likes also. I have always enjoyed ska…I used to listen to quite a bit of it. Now I listen to more blues…and I mean old acoustic blues. I do love bluegrass and I love Cuban music-especially the variety that is called, “Son”. I love Stevie Ray Vaughan and a lotta wicked guitarists.
Thanks for the links.
