  • OK, I’ll take a few minutes to catch you up slightly, but honestly, I just don’t feel I can get everything in that needs to be said to tell you all how thankful I am to God for His blessings.

I’m home to go to the doctor today at 11:30 so I have a couple minutes and need to at least mention the business I began early December.  My niece, Missy, and I have discussed having a cleaning business a few times and wished we had the guts to start one and the know how to run one.  Instead, I started thinking about buying a Chick-fil-a because the capital required for it is so much less than many established businesses of that type and I have 3 people who I know personally who run them and are owner/operators and do very well for themselves.  It made me feel I had a good shot at it being successful.  Still, this could end up being a future business I end up doing, but… God being God and knowing me so well, He placed it in my heart to want a business and them set me up with a new ‘friend’ who could make this a reality, and it was , of all things, a cleaning service!  Missy and I talked, she would help me do the cleaning if I got the business side set up, things like Worker’s comp certification, liability insurance, supplies and the jobs.  Well, thanks to Shawn, who is a site superintendent for a very large builder in our area, Oberer Companies, the work was plentiful and he also helped me get the ball rolling (albeit slowly at first because I was a little skeerd to start this thing) by sending me site links for the Workers comp U3 form and how to get a certificate and then he got the best rates for the required liability coverage and gave me the address, amount it would take to start it and the contact who’d be waiting for me to stop by after my work day to get it.  Then he told me to fax all the info to the home office at Oberer and gave me the contact names and what was needed to begin my new work!  All has been going pretty great and I have hopes of being able to do this full time instead of having a clock-in type job for someone else!  Not sure how soon, and it’s a challenge to juggle this many balls at once without dropping any (and I do at times, but Shawn and Missy are pretty great to pick them up and get me juggling again) but all in all, it’s super to be able to say I am a business owner and I’m learning loads as I go that will only help as I venture into anything that comes up and this thing grows.

Missy has actually quit her part time job at the bank to do this cleaning full time and we’ve discussed making a partnership, but that seems to muddy the tax waters and many say that partnerships usually are difficult to maintain, for a number of reasons so…. I guess I’ll keep doing it as a sole proprietorship to keep things simpler for now, or until it is deemed a conflict of interest for Shawn.  See, we are now quite certain that God has orchestrated things for us to meet, get to know each other and appreciate the godly heart of the other and we’re finding that we want to spend more and more time together.  So much so, that… well, this is a long one so… I may have to do another entry about that soon.   Please pray for me that I keep my focus on the One who has all my tomorrows in His powerful, capable and gentle hands.  I am so blessed ya’ll!
