Hi all… Chapter 7 of A Quest For Love…
Chapter 7 – The Wheels Begin Turning
The thought that Smaug might be uncertain of his new and regular partner seemed to give Jen a little hope. She began to inquire of their mutual friends and found he frequently asked them about her activity for the day while he was not there. He often received less than good news it seemed. This maid was not terribly loyal to him, but worse yet, the friends knew it and he did not want to receive the information all that readily. There were a couple of their friends with whom Smaug and Jen had played and whom he used to play before she came along and began playing the possessive game. It seemed to Jen and all their friends that this partner was living by double standards. She wanted him to be with only her and she could play cards or flirt with anyone she pleased (she was a changer too). Well, this was not sitting well with any of Smaug’s friends, least of all Jen. She was unsure of her own future as far as this wonderful dragon was concerned, but she knew she could not allow him to be played a fool by this person.
As she sat in the main, talking with friends, many were concerned and hoped to do something to let him know what he was dealing with concerning this maid. The greatest concern was his being hurt. It seemed to them, there was no way to let him know how she was mocking him by her actions without his heart being broken. One special friend of both Smaug and Jen was Lara. She was very loyal to the dragon and anyone who was not against him. Jen felt at times that Lara also had feelings for Smaug. This troubled Jen a little, but they had a common goal either way… to see Smaug freed of this person who obviously did not care about him as they did. With this in mind, Jen left Shiothore for the evening with a heavy heart… for she knew what must be done. The plans had to be made and they would all be there for him when all was said and done.
Fall was in the air in Shiothore and the surrounding areas. She felt chilled to the bone by her thoughts, even though the air had not turned all that cool as yet. She quickly wrote a note to Lara to request her input where this situation was concerned. She had come to trust her more than she understood since they had been only acquaintances for such a short time. She believed her input could be the key to resolving this issue once and for all. Jen could not have dared imagine just how much this would play out to be true. Never in many years would Jen have realized just how much Lara cared and what she would be willing to do to get Smaug out of this doomed relationship and begin the healing process his friends knew he would need to begin once it was over. Lara held the key. Jen would be forever grateful to her and their own friendship would be sealed when this was all said and done. Yes, the wheels were now in motion.
